Hello,
My name is Stacey Wheeler and I am a fire fighter with Red Truck Wildfire, based in Boise, ID.
We were one of the crews who were dispatched to Camp Pico Blanco last summer. We were joined by a hotshot crew from CA, Dept
of Forestry, CALfire, the Montanna Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) and other crews from ID and other areas. It was
a privilege to be a part of the effort to secure the camp.
I was pleased to see how much of our efforts paid off,
but that happiness was tempered by the images of the destruction... the areas that could not be saved. I'm excited to see
the camp coming back and -again- beginning to serve the scouts.
I've attached a few shots that were taken while we
were camped in the valley, making our stand for the camp.
Please pass on to the young men there that each of us on
my crew recieved a Pico Blanco Patch from someone there as a token of appreciation. It meant a lot. I'll never part with that
patch.
Best regards.
Stacey James Wheeler Fire Fighter Type 1 Red Truck Wildfire
PS, I hope some
of the ladybugs survived.
